Five weeks old!

We went to the doctor last week and Owen weighed in at 11 pounds 1 ounce...he's huge! It's amazing how fast he's growing...almost a pound a week so far. He was 23 inches long which puts him in the 95th percentile for height.

Owen is five weeks old now and really starting to wake up!He's gotten into a routine nighttime schedule and has started to be awake more during the day. He's holding his head up pretty much all the time now and is smiling a lot more. He's so much fun!

Mommy sleeping with Owen on the couch because he wasn't cooperating with sleeping in the crib :)

One month old picture! Smiling a lot more these days!

Owen went to school to meet all the little voices he heard for 9 months...they were super excited.

Daddy took a little nap with Owen on the couch too :)

Owen's two week check up!

Owen went for his two week check up today! He has gone from 7 lbs. 7 oz. to 9 lbs. 5 oz. in 17 days! That's almost two pounds! I'm amazed that he's gaining so quickly and getting big already! He also is 1/2 an inch longer than he was at birth! We knew that he had really grown because his newborn clothes are already starting to get tight. They're starting to be too short and his legs end up squished looking when he wears them. It makes me sad that he's already growing out of things...he's going to grow so quickly!

Owen is such a good, happy boy. He cries when he's hungry but doesn't fuss too much otherwise. He's been getting up between 1 and 3 times a night but sometimes gets up and stays up for hours for no reason. Even those nights aren't that bad though because he's not crying, just being awake and happy.

40 Weeks!

We have TWO days until our due date! We went to the doctor today and found out that we've made excellent progress! My cervix went from 25% to 50% effaced and from a fingertip (1/2 cm) to 2 full centimeters dialated! Yay! We go back next Tuesday for an ultrasound and to find out an induction day if he hasn't come by then. I'd prefer to go into labor on my own because I hear that it's less painful than having pitocin but he might need some motivation to come out! Either way, he will most likely be here by the end of next week!

38 Weeks 5 Days from the front

38 weeks 5 days from the side
My belly has officially taken on that "bullet" shape that means it's time to get the baby out! We had our 38 week appointment on Thursday afternoon and Owen is still doing very well. His heartbeat was 127 which is normal for this time in pregnancy. He has the heartbeat and sleep cycles of a newborn rather than the fast heartbeat of a baby in utero. The doctor checked me again this week and we found out that I haven't progressed AT ALL since last week. He did move down a little bit in my pelvis though so the walking is working! The doctor said it is no big deal that I haven't dialated or effaced any more because whether I dialate early or not I still have to wait for real contractions and labor.
Dan and I have everything ready for him to come now so we're just waiting...and trying to be patient.
We have our next appointment on Thursday morning. We'll talk more about our overdue plan at that point since I will be 2 days away from my due date. Apparently they'll let you go almost 2 weeks overdue...oh boy!

38 Weeks

We had our 37 1/2 week doctors appointment this past Thursday. We ended up waiting for an hour and a half for one of the doctors and finally being seen by the nurse practitioner. I guess there were lots of emergency deliveries that day so they were very behind. Once we were finally back in the room Owen must have been annoyed because he would NOT let his heartbeat be found! He was hiding and flipping around like crazy but he finally stopped and we found out that he was at 120. The doctor said that it's totally normal that his heartbeat has slowed so much from previous appointments because he's getting ready for birth.

Speaking of getting ready for birth...I'm 1/2 a centimeter dialated! This may not sound like much but it's better than nothing and has really pulled me through this week! We also finished the nursery...except for the rocking chair that's still on Daddy's to do list for the weekend.

We have another appointment on Thursday and are hoping for a lot more dialation!

Nursery

Dan and I had a very productive (and expensive) day today! We went out to Marshalls and picked up a new rug for the living room...even though we went there for frames. Then we headed next door to Target and bought a new toy chest and rug for the baby's room! Let me know what you think!
The new rug in the living room...opinions? We're not sure if we're going to keep it or not.

Larger view of the living room. I really think the rug looks nice but Dan still isn't convinced.

Owen's new toy box full of toys.

The closet

We hung up the curtains!

We bought a toy box for all of Owen's new toys! It's soft and blue with stripes.

View of the toy box with Owen's diaper bag on it....the diaper bag is already packed for the hospital!

Owen's changing table and dresser...starting to come together a little more these days.

This is the new rug for his floor! It matches the colors in his bedding really well!

The lightswitch cover Sasha made from the shower invite looks so cute in the room!

Video

I took this video last night to show my belly a little better. I hope it works for you!

36 Week Belly

Front on view of a BIG belly!

Side view...doesn't look that big here. Also, I've realized that I look terrible in all my pictures. I'm going to have to take some during the day instead of late at night in my pajamas with no makeup and messy hair. I'll work on it :)

36 Weeks!

We are one week from being "full term" and super excited to hit that milestone! Owen is still kicking away and I continue to get bigger and bigger so it seems like he's growing like a weed in there. We went to the doctor about a week and a half ago and this time the doctor said that I'm measuring right on time. I think the two doctors measured me in different spots so this Wednesday's appointment will be interesting. I'm hoping to measure a little big so that I can get another ultrasound! Either way, we'll be able to see our little guy in a month...but I'd love to sneak a peak sooner!

Owen dropped this week! One night I was having a really hard time breathing and was super uncomfortable but then the next morning I noticed that I could breathe a little easier and that my belly looked lower! I had the school nurse feel my belly because she used to be a labor and delivery nurse and she said that he's engaged in my pelvis. He's getting ready to come out! I'll post a pic very soon...Dan is currently sleeping or I'd post one now!

33 Weeks

We had another doctor's appointment last Wednesday and will have another one next Wednesday (every two weeks now)! The baby was doing really well at this appointment with a heartbeat of 146. Last week at the appointment I was 32 weeks and 4 days along and he was already measuring at almost 35 weeks. The doctor said that if he continues to measure ahead we will probably have an ultrasound at either 34 or 36 weeks. We're really excited to see him and it would be awesome if he showed up a little early!

I'll update next week with the news...and hopefully some pictures!

31 Weeks

We had another doctor's appointment last week and everything is still perfectly on target! The baby is measuring exactly right at each appointment and his heartbeat is pretty steady at this point. His heartbeat has been 135 for the last two appointments. He is definitely getting bigger too! I can tell the difference in his movements - they're getting much stronger these days and are closer to my ribs. He moves the most in the evening, my belly looks like it has waves going across! Here are the most recent pics:

The view from the top...notice there are no feet!

Henry was super interested in men's figure skating this evening. He watched the entire thing! Not baby related, but super cute :)

Tomorrow we have our Infant CPR class from 6:30 to 8:30 so that we know what to do if anything ever happens to our little guy. Our next appointment is next Wednesday at 4:30. Having the appointments every two weeks makes it feel like things are going really fast!

Getting the nursery together

The nursery is coming together! We've gotten the crib and dresser now but are still trying to find a changing table that matches the color of the wood. It's beautiful!

It's finished!

26 Weeks

We are 6 1/2 months along now and starting to feel a bit of a crunch! We have ordered the baby's nursery set: http://www.westwoodbaby.com/stratton.html (the crib and the tall dresser) and have decided on a bedding set: http://www.kidslineinc.com/products/infant/jungle_123.php (but we won't be buying ALL those pieces, of course). We're thinking about painting the nursery a green color from the bedding set and are starting the painting process this weekend. Tomorrow we're going to the hospital for the first time for our hospital tour. We'll get to see the labor and delivery ward, the nursery, and the NICU...hopefully the NICU for the last time! In two weeks we have our birth/lamaze class. It feels like there's so much to do in the next few weeks to be prepared in case he decides to show up early!

We also had our 24 week doctor's appointment last week (at 25 weeks because of Christmas). The baby's heart beat was perfect at 146 and he was moving around a lot. The nurse had to start over four different times because he flipped or moved before she could get a complete reading on his heartbeat. I finally gained a bunch of weight this month...you'll see why when you see the belly pictures! I went from having only gained 8 pounds during the first 20 weeks to having gained 18 pounds at 25 weeks. The doctor said this is fine though because the biggest weight gain is supposed to happen between 20 and 28 weeks. Our next appointment is at 28 weeks and then we start going every two weeks! It's amazing how fast this whole pregnancy is going!

I'll post pictures very soon!
